This is a nicely made, sturdy, reel - that I'm sure will look great for many years to come. I appreciate the fact that it doesn't look out of place in my fairly contemporary garden, but would look similarly good somewhere more traditional.

The only downsides:

- No hose guide. Pick a hose that'll easily reel up (flexible) without bunching
- Installation isn't straightforward. It comes ready-to-assemble, and the first few guide pages are "idiot" proof and it's like they ran out of space on the last few pages (the most complex part, IMHO)

I bought this hose reel in March of 2010 and I just bought a second one in Nov 2011. I recently found a pin hole leaking in the 6 ft. spigot hose that came with the first reel and Rapid Reel replaced it within four days free of charge. This reel has a superior design with excellant materials and fabrication. It even has mounting hole spaces to match the 16 inch wall studs of the house and I rarely find that in anything I buy. This item is pricey but well worth it as you won't be replacing it for many years to come.

Bought 2 of these this year. Was tired of the not-so-cheap-in-price-but-cheap-in-durability plastic versions from the local hardware stores. They never last more than 3 years. I could tell from the time I opened the box that this was going to last. So far I am very pleased with its durability and ease of use. Last month I needed a third reel but decided to go with another brand (RoughNeck) that "looked" a lot like this one but was $10 cheaper. When I opened the box I could tell I should have spent the extra $$! The paint chips off easy and the hose routing is not real good.
I will never buy another hose reel but this one!!!
